Old Town Harbour
Like many places in Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen was originally a small fishing village, and the old harbour is still a delightful place to visit, boasting some excellent bars
, restaurants and excursions running out of the harbour there. We also have one of the best open air Markets on the island here every Friday from 10:00 and the harbour is also home to some great events like St Patricks day and the local Carnival.
Although the The Old Town Harbour has been modernised over recent years the local fishermen still use the harbour as they have done for many years. If you are in the harbour in the morning you can watch them preparing their catch ready to ship out to the local restaurants, its great to watch them using traditional methods to prepare the fish and you can buy the catch just minutes after in the local fishmongers at La Lonja in the harbour.
If you fancy trying your hand at a spot of fishing yourself then we have some great sport fishing excursions based here in the harbour. You can book these trips through us here at the Waverider by calling our booking number or by emailing us here. BOOK SPORT FISHING
The harbour is home to many other boat trips so if you just want to chill out on the water and take in the beautiful views of Lanzarote from the sea or fancy a day trip to the near by marina of Puerto Calero.
We have a great little Mini Cruse boat and Sailing boats that are suitable for all the family to enjoy, take a slow tour along the beaches of Puerto del Carmen. These are the perfect trips to cool off on the water and sunbathe when the beaches are getting a bit too hot in the summer months.
From the Old Town Harbour you can even take a day trip to the beautiful Marina Puerto Calero on the Water Taxi, Puerto Calero has a host of bars, restaurants and designer clothes shops to browse around and you can also see the Submarine Safari and Catlanza tours from here. The Water bus takes just 40 minutes to get from The Old Town Harbour to Puerto Calero also known as Millionaires Marina, and once there you will soon see how it got its name.
